President’s Message

4/11/2023

The Pine Ridge Board of Directors is happy to announce that we have entered into an agreement with Blue Stream Fiber to install a Fiber Optic Network in Pine Ridge.  Construction will be planned and started in the coming months.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Keith Landers, the Chair of our Technology Committee, for his help and work getting us to the finish  line on this project.  His expertise on the issues and help in negotiating the contract were invaluable.

What we are getting:

Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) refers to the use of fiber-optic cable from a central point straight to your home. Fiber Optic means faster internet  and reliable services across multiple connected devices. Fiber Optic prepares Pine Ridge for the future and increases our property values.

Additionally, it provides us all with competition for Spectrum.  We will see more competition for our internet, cable TV and phone service dollars.  The agreement we signed already calls for lower cost internet and cable TV packages.  With future competition between providers, it should keep prices down and service levels up.

What this IS NOT:

THIS IS NOT A BULK AGREEMENT.  Going forward if you choose to use  the option of Blue Stream as your provider you will have the same type of retail relationship with them as you currently have with Century Link, Spectrum, or any other provider you have now.  Once the network is installed you will be notified when service is available.  At that time, you will receive marketing materials and service options, etc.  As service availability approaches there may be Townhalls, mailers and other material to explain your options giving you the ability to compare services.

What Advantages are there for the POA?

Blue Stream will provide FREE internet and Wi-Fi for the Pine Ridge Community Center, the barn and many of our surrounding amenity areas.  Additionally, the POA will receive fees for the granting of an easement to Blue Stream as well as additional fees if over 50% of our residents sign up for internet services.  These fees will be used by the POA to offset/delay future dues increases, as well as projects within the scope of the POA.

As this project progresses in implementation there will be additional information available through both the POA and Blue Stream.  This is a win-win for our community.  More competition, a better product, cost saving and higher property values for each Member.
