Pine Ridge recently achieved an important victory in Circuit Court concerning the proposed residential development of the former Pine Ridge Golf Course property. The Court granted our Petition for Writ of Certiorari and quashed the County ordinance that had approved the proposed development.
However, this issue is not over.
The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners has scheduled a special meeting to decide whether the County will seek appellate review of the Circuit Court’s decision. At the same time, there are important questions about the future status of the golf course property and our Master Plan and Vested DRI, the development process that may follow, and opportunities that may exist for a broader resolution.
We need our community informed and involved.

- * What the Circuit Court actually decided and what it means for Pine Ridge.
- * Why the ordinance approving residential development was quashed.
- * What could happen if the County decides to seek appellate review.
- * What could happen if the County does not seek further review.
- * The current Parks/Recreation/Golf Course status of the property and why preserving that status matters.
- * Possible future development applications and issues Pine Ridge may face.
- * The importance of ongoing discussions concerning the future of the golf course property.
- * How Pine Ridge residents can appropriately participate in the upcoming BOCC special meeting.
- * What we can do as a community to help protect Pine Ridge’s interests going forward.
Your participation matters.
Our court victory was significant, but it should not be viewed as the end of this issue. Decisions made during the coming weeks could have long-term consequences for the golf course property, the Master Plan and the Pine Ridge community.
We encourage POA members to:
Attend Saturday’s community meeting.
Become informed about the issues.
Attend the upcoming BOCC special meeting.
Make your presence and concern for the future of Pine Ridge known.
We want our participation at the BOCC meeting to be informed, respectful, organized and effective. Saturday’s meeting will give residents an opportunity to understand where matters currently stand, hear about the issues ahead, ask questions, and discuss how our community can best participate.
This is an important moment for Pine Ridge.
