The Board of Directors recently received a letter from a member stating, “the Board doesn’t represent the entire Pine Ridge community”. Treasurer Bob Farmer’s response sums things up pretty well:
I understand you are passionate about the community, and I certainly appreciate that.
I do take exception to the statement that the Board of Directors do not represent the entire
community.
- When the tennis/pickle ball group comes to us with issues, we address them even
though very few people in the community play those sports.
- When members of the horse community come to us with issues, we address them
even though a small percentage own horses.
- Same with members in the immediate vicinity and downwind of the proposed sand
mine. - Same with the people that might be affected by the future development of the 147
acres on Norvell Bryant and the 86 acres between Pine Ridge and Black Diamond.
- Same with members affected by or concerned about the future of the golf course
property and the downstream bad effects of allowing residential development on
our overall protected land use.
I can tell you that I have spoken to people throughout our 25 square mile development that
don’t care about what happens on the opposite side of the community, which may be miles
away.
BUT… as members of the Board, we care about ALL of these issues. It’s our duty and our
responsibility. It’s in our governing documents that we pledged to defend.
I care what happens in those disparate constituencies and how it affects our fellow
members. So collectively, when we handle these issues with smaller groups, we are
representing the entire community.
