The Pine Ridge Golf Course is not owned by or subject to the Deed Restrictions of Pine Ridge POA.  The Pine Ridge Golf Course has had at least three owners in the last five years.  No owners have been willing to make the investment to create a successful ongoing concern.  The golf course is approximately 221 acres that sits in the center of Pine Ridge.

The current owner’s efforts to turn a profit has led to schemes  that could permanently impact Pine Ridge as we know it.  He first floated a plan to develop 400 units on approximately 50 acres of the golf course.  The Board of Directors was able to convince him that The Pine Ridge POA would fight the development and he pulled back the idea.  The owner has now re-listed the course for sale.  Early last month a contract was written with a group (Harvestarmy.org) that wanted to develop the land into a worldwide religious retreat and boys’ ranch.  Fortunately, this contract was rescinded.

Any major changes would impact the whole of Pine Ridge changing the character of the entire community.  The Board is looking into the possibility of purchasing and gaining control of the Golf Course land.  A referendum and vote by the community would be required before any special assessment is levied to acquire the property.  The research so far leads the Board to believe the golf course property could be purchased for a one time assessment of up to $400 per lot.
