ROADS COMMITTEE UPDATE
Pete Cuccaro

During the week of July 25, 2021 the Citrus Chronicle ran an on line poll the results of which are below.

Simultaneously, the Pine Ridge Property Owners Association was reaching out to residents via their website and through Stay In Touch. Feedback regarding topics currently being mulled in Roads Committee meetings was sought. Some answers were well thought out and some were terse. They will all be reviewed to provide understanding going forward. We have an upcoming meeting with Citrus County engineering and will share your input.

Thanks to Keith Landers and his ability to push out encouragements we fared very well in the Chronicle poll.

Question: Citrus Countians are currently divided on the construction of an interchange at County Road 486 off the Suncoast Parkway. What do you think?
A. There are too many interchanges planned in Citrus. This one isn’t necessary. (1,194 votes)
B. Make a temporary terminus at C.R. 486 and let the community decide if it needs to stay in the future (161 votes)
C. An interchange at 486 would dump traffic in an already congested area. Don’t do it. (442 votes)
D. The proposed location is a fine, centrally located exit in Citrus. (1036 votes)
Total votes: 2833.
Although a sampling at best, my own experience with polls breaks it down as follows:
Questions A and C are interrelated as are B and D,
A and C = 1,636 against the interchange,
B and D = 1,197 for the interchange.

If this was a legitimate vote those not in favor of the interchange would prevail.

The results of the PRPOA feedback mechanism should be wrapped up by August 6, 2021. If you have not yet responded (you live in or own property in Pine Ridge and pay dues) and want to share your thoughts, you have this week to do it.

The Roads Committee is working on behalf of our residents and owners in a continuing effort to shine a light on issues which have gone unaddressed at government levels.
